How to perform
Main muscles working (thicker lines)
Starting position
On hands and knees with hands under the shoulders and a foam roller under the front of both shins, just above the ankles.
Lift the knees slightly so the shins rest on the roller and the tops of the feet point back.
Rock your body forward over the hands so the roller travels up the shins toward the knees.
Rock back so it returns toward the ankles, pausing on tender spots.
Turn the legs slightly inward to shift pressure onto the muscle beside the shin bone.
Breathing: Breathe slowly and keep the lower legs relaxed.
Coaching tips
Hands do the steering

Common mistakes
Rolling directly on the shin bone
Letting the lower back sag
Rolling onto the knees
Safety notes
Keep pressure light on bony areas and skip it with shin splints that feel sharp.
