How to perform

Stair Climber Machine movement

Main muscles working (thicker lines)

Starting position

Step onto the machine holding the handrails, stand tall and select a manual level or a program.

  1. 1

Start at a slow pace for a few minutes to warm up.

  2. 2

Place your whole foot on each step or pedal and push through the heel.

  3. 3

On a stepper, drive the pedals down in a steady rhythm without letting them hit the bottom.

  4. 4

Stay upright with only a light touch on the rails.

  5. 5

Reduce the speed gradually to cool down before stepping off.

Breathing: Breathe steadily; slow the pace if you can't keep a controlled rhythm.

Safety notes

  • Keep a hand near the rails and slow the machine before stepping off.

  • Watch your footing on a step mill; the stairs keep moving.
