Main muscles working (thicker lines)
Starting position
Set up at a loaded bar with a band over each sleeve anchored to platform pegs or under your feet, in a wide stance with toes turned out and the bar over midfoot.
Grip the bar with your arms hanging straight inside your knees.
Push your knees out, drop your hips and set your chest up.
Drive the floor apart and accelerate the bar upward.
Lock out by pushing your hips to the bar against the peak band tension.
Lower under control without letting the bands pull you out of position.
Breathing: Brace before the pull and exhale at lockout.
Coaching tips
Spread the floor
Fast off the floor
Hips to the bar
Common mistakes
Knees caving as tension rises
Uneven band setup
Hips shooting up first
Safety notes
Check the band anchors before every set.
Use a lighter bar load; the bands add load at the top.
