Half an avocado blended with spinach, unsweetened soy milk, a little banana and lime. The avocado gives the texture of a milkshake with monounsaturated fat and fibre, and because there is only half a banana the sugar stays at 7 g. A filling mid-morning or evening snack, especially on a low-sugar day.

Ingredients
Method
- 1
Blend the spinach and soy milk on high for 30 seconds until smooth and green.
- 2
Scoop in the avocado, add the banana, lime juice and ice, and blend on high for 30–40 seconds until thick and completely creamy with no green specks.
- 3
Pour and drink within 20 minutes; avocado browns slowly once blended.
Tips
- A ripe avocado yields slightly when pressed near the stem; a hard one will not blend creamy.
- Freeze the other half of the avocado in cubes for the next smoothie.
Swaps
- No soy milk? Use 200 ml toned milk: same calories, 2 g less protein, becomes veg.
