Café cold coffee is milk, ice cream and 3 to 4 spoons of sugar, easily 300 kcal. This is the home version with just toned milk, instant coffee and ice blended until frothy, which gives a cappuccino-like foam without any sweetener. The milk's natural sweetness and the bitterness of the coffee balance out. Good 30 to 45 minutes before a workout or as an afternoon pick-me-up.

Ingredients
Method
- 1
Dissolve the instant coffee in the tablespoon of hot water in the blender jar; this stops grainy bits.
- 2
Add the chilled milk and ice and blend on high for 30 to 40 seconds until it doubles in volume and has a thick foam.
- 3
Pour into a tall glass, dust with cinnamon or cocoa and drink while frothy.
Tips
- Colder milk and more ice give more foam; a warm jar gives a flat drink.
- If you need some sweetness, one soaked date blended in adds about 20 kcal and tastes like caramel.
Swaps
- Unsweetened soy milk makes it vegan with similar protein.
Storage
Drink immediately; the foam collapses in a few minutes.
