Most people who 'forget to drink water' simply find plain water boring. Slicing a cucumber and a lemon into a jug with some mint gives it a faint, fresh taste for almost no calories, and a jug on the desk or dining table gets emptied without effort. Refill it once with the same slices before changing them.

Ingredients
Method
- 1
Put the cucumber slices, lemon slices and mint sprig into a jug or 1-litre bottle. Press the lemon slices lightly with a spoon so a little juice comes out.
- 2
Fill with chilled water and leave for 30 minutes in the fridge, or 10 minutes on the counter, before drinking.
- 3
Top up with water as you drink through the day; replace the slices after 24 hours.
Tips
- Keep the lemon slices for a few hours only if you want it mild; the peel turns bitter after about half a day.
- Try orange and ginger, or watermelon chunks and basil, in the same way.
Storage
Keeps 1 day in the fridge; discard the fruit after that.
